RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYOR R. E. OVERMAN
TO FILE AN AMENDED APPLICATIO N '';ITH THE FEDERAL
EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR
ADDITIONAL LOAN AND GRANT OF $100,000 FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION AND E?UIPMENTT OF A MUN`?ICIPAL
AUDITORIUM.
WHEREAS, The United States Government, through the
Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works had agreed
to make to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, a Loan and Grant
of 8760,000 for the purchase of a site and construction and equip-
ment of a Municipal Auditorium, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas, make application for an additional $100,000 by way of
Loan and Grant from the Federal Emergency Administration of Pub-
lic Works, in order that said municipal Auditorium may be built
according to the Plans and Specifications prepared by the arch-
itects for said project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas: -
Section 1. Mayor R. E. Overman is hereby authorized
and directed to file an amended application with the Federal
Emergency Administration of Public Works asking that the loan
and grant agreement*hichthe City of Little Rock now has with
Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works be increased
from $760,000 to $860,000 for the purchase of a site for, con-
struction and equipment of a Municipal Auditorium, and LLayor R. E.
Overman is hereby authorized to execute said application for such
increase in the amount of said loan and agreement and to do all
things necessary to obtain favorable consideration of said application
Section 2. WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has no
Municipal Auditorium or facilities for large conventions or gather-
ings and that by reason thereof the city loses great sums inyc,,,,,L,e_,
WHEREAS, the immediate construction of a Lunicipal
Auditorium will partially relieve the employment situation,
it is hereby declared that an emergency exists, and that this
Resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately in
the interest of the Public peace, health and safety.
