1328RESOLUTION NO. 1328
W=EAS, on June 9, 1913 the City of Little Rock conveyed by
deed to the United States of America, the follol °ring lands lying in the
City of Little Rock, County of Pulaski, State of Arkansas, comprising the
Confederate Cemetery to -wit:
Beginning at the N.W. corner of Na.tional Cemetery, located
in Section 11, Township 1 North, Range 12 'i''%est, thence Four
Hundred Twenty -five (425) feet, to public road; thence North
westerly along said public road Eight Hundred Eighty -Three
five tenths (883.5) feet to iron pin; thence East Seven Hun-
dred Thirty -two Eight tenths (732.8) feet to the Northwest
corner of said National Cemetery; thence south Eight Hundred
Twenty -Eight Seventeen Hundredth (528.17) feet to point of
beginning, and
WHEREAS, said deed contained the following provision, "And in
further consideration that the property herein conveyed is never used
for anyother purpose than as a. Cemetery for the graves of men who were
in the military and naval service of the Confederate St,�.tes of America ";
and
IFIEREAS, it is now deemed necessary to appropri.�.te a part of
the property conveyed in the above mentioned. deed for the purpose of in-
ter-ring veterans of the world war who served either in the land or naval
forces.
Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOL77ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK
Section 1. That the Secretary of '.'a.r is hereby authorized to
use said property as conveyed in said deed dated June 9, 1913 for the
purpose of interring soldiers, sailors and marines of the World VI!ar and
of the regular establishment as the Government may see fit, provided,
ho.,rever, that the Government shall at all times leave sufficient space
for the purpose of future burials of Confederate veterans, and that said
provision which reads as follows "And in further consideration th?t the
property herein conveyed is never used for anyother purpose than a
Cemetery for the graves of men who were in the military and naval service
of the Confederate States of America." be and same is hereby withdrawn.
