An Ordinance to Preserve the Health of the Citizens of Little Rock
by Prescribing Rules for the Sale of Ice, to Prevent its
Fraudulent Sale in the City of Little Rock, Requiring
the Weighing of the Same, Providing a Penalty for
Non-Compliance Herewith, and for other
Purposes.

Section 1. All persons, firms or corporations sellinE or
offerin` to sell ice by retail in the City of Little Rock shall sell
or offer for sale only solid, clear, crystal ice, clean and free from
all dirt, filth or any unhealthy or injurious substance or element.
Section 2. 411 rersons, firms or corporations selling or
offering to sell ice by retail in the City of Little Rock, in order
,. to prevent fraudulent and underweight sales of said ice, shall de-
liver said_ ice to such wagons, trucks or other vehicles as peddle
or Geliver by retail throughout the city in blocks `neighing shiTormly
three hundred pounds; provided, however, an allowance of five pounds,
either over or below said weight, may be made for shrinkage.
Section 3. All persons, firms or corporations selling or of-
fering to sell ice from any wagon, truce or other vehicle, by retail,
in the City of Little Rock, shall, from and after the date of the
passage of this ordinance, equip each wagon, truck or other vehicle
used in the transportation or delivery of ice with scales snowing the
true and correct weight thereon in pounds.
Section 4. 11 ice hereafter sold by retail in the City of
Little Rock shall be sold according to its true weight, and any per-
son, firm or corporation, including the drivers and employees on all
such vehicles, shall reweiSh said ice upon the request of any such pur-
chaser or consumer, in the presence of such purchaser or consumer or
his or per agent or servant.

Section 5. Any person, firm or corporation maintaining
wagons, truces or other vehicles of delivery along any regular route,
delivering ice by retail to any regular customers, who shall at any
time willfully fail or refuse to deliver ice from such wagons at the
request or demand of any regular customer or consumer usually pur-
chasing ice from said wagon, truer or other delivery vehicle, shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and a violation of this ordinance
and shall be fined in any sum not less than 1.00 nor more than
010.00.
Section 6. Any person, firm or corporation who shall place
or maintain any scales upon any wagon, truck or other vehicle de-
livering ice by retail in this city showing or having false weights
thereon, or who shall deliver any ice to any purchaser or consumer
,,,ithout first weighing said ice, or who shall not sell said_ ice ac-
cording to its true weight, or who shall fail or refuse to reweigh
said ice upon the request of any purchaser or consumer, or who shall
sell or offer for sale any ice which is not solid, or not clear, or

not crystal, or not free from all dirt or filth or unhealthy or in-
jurious substance or element, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than '310.00
nor more than x!50.00, and each sale so made or each day such scales
showing a false ,,ieight shall -remain on said wagon, truck or other
vehicle, shall be deemed a separate offense.
Section 7. in the event any portion of this ordinance shall
be held void or inoperative in any respect, sucl:, hol6 -ing shall not
invalidate or affect any other section or portion of this ordinance.
Section B. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con-
flict rerewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall take ef-
fect and be in force from and after its passage.
