5001I 4 7 S ORDINA NCE NO. _ �..Q.� /� AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 648 OF BRICKHOUSE AND CASTLES DIGEST OF CITY ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS, 1932, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. ROCK: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE Section 1. Section No. 648 of the above recited Digest is hereby amended to read as follows: (a) UNLAWFUL TO STORE, ETC. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to store, keen, possess, or have in possession or permit another to store, keep, possess or have in possession, any of the liquors and beverages mentioned in Section 646 of said Digest, in or at fruit stand, restaurant, store, drug store (except alcohol in a drug store as permitted by law, or wine for sacramental pur- poses as may be permitted by later), or in any club or club room of any social or fraternal organization or of any other organization or association of persons, or in any livery stable, public garage, public park, hotel, rooming house, dining room, wagon yard, or any public building of the State, county or municipality, or district, or in or at any room or place where a bowling alley or any billiard or pool table is maintained or operated for gain; but this shall not prevent anv officer from storing or having such liquors in a public building for a safe - keeping when seized in the enforcement of the law or when stored or possessed for use as evidence or otherwise in his official capacity. And it shall also be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of selling or dealing in soft drinks or nonprohibit- ed beverages to keep, possess or store on the premises any of the liquors mentioned in Section 646 of said Digest, or any other liquors, beverages or drinks or bitters prohibited by the laws of this State. (b) UNLAWFUL TO POSSESS LIQUORS. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to have in their posses- sion any alcoholic, vinous, malt, spiritous or fermented liquor or any compound preparation thereof commonly called tonics, bitters, or medicated lir,_uors for the purpose of sale as a beverage. This ordinance is not intended to repeal any ordinances now in force in this City, but it is intended to be cumulative of the ordinances now in force with respect to the manufacture of, sale of, or traffic in or with alcoholic liquors or products set out in said Digest including Section 646 to and includ- ing Section 651. s" ORDINANCE NO. ThDre being no ordinances now in force, prohibiting possessing in a public place, or possessingfor sale, said alcoholic liquors, or products set out in Section 64b of said Digest, and there being a necessity for the immediate protection of the ?people of the City of Little Rock against such illegal possession, sale of, or traffic in or ith said alcoholic liquors, products, Etc., as here- in recited, and this ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public hea:lth,peace, and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon the date of its passage.
