To the Mayor If " Chief of Police " 1 Chief of Fire Department Board of Civil service Co °-- issioners Lincoln National Life Insurance Co, Police Committee Fire Committee During the year of 1933, it was reported the Police and Fire Departments that the City to na.y it's half of theremiuin on our blanket we 'were to have, or continue any insurance we hole of the premium ourselves, s • RECEIVED and FILED JAN1 29 1934 JOHN L.,KRUNIINI, G.I7'Y G to the active riembers of vine not financially able insurance and that if would have to nay t he NOVr,''we did not question the correctness or the truth of such a statement, nor did we agree to do this, but we do know that someone just client ahead and took it out of our salaries on the payrolls when- ever the premiums were due, NOVA', this is not in line with the contract, as we understood it when it was taken out, and if we have to nay all of the -premium, then we want to know whet the city h,-,,s to do with how much insurance we carry, the company we are insured with or anything else aboutIT NP feel like le can manage our own private business and don't need any of the Ci ty's supPrvision. The only reason we rent into this blanket insuranci was that we would be insured for Two Thousand Dollars and would only have to pay pre -r:ium on One Thousand Dollars and the extra amount where members were older than we are rho could only Get insurance 6,t a very high rate, or no insurance at all. It looks to us now like the City ic trying to make a oer, nanent thin- out of a te:npor&ry arrangement, into which we were forced to enter on account of a, reported shortage of money in 1933, but re are now in the first part of the year 1934, and arrangements can be made so that the city can and will do what it agreed to do and. re request and dena.nd that the City nay it's half of the premium of our insurance beginning with January 1934, and where we have-not t,-ken our checks, the deduction on the payroll be corrected to what it should be, and in all ether cases, where the January 1st to 15th check has been de- livered, that the' city's half of that prernium be refunded and included on the next payroll. ''de wish to ask that this be inquired into and settled at once in s,o far as we are concdrned, and. that the Lincoln National Life take notice of the date of this letter and it's contents. by t7 -e undersigned, +nembers Fire Police f ly, L,ez • Sheet No. 2 dr 6 Petition January 22, 1934. -1 - ,A -MEN= N Rider Petition January 22, 1934, Paragraph Two i Applies to Fire Department only in part.
