5146AN ORDINANCE RE')UIR ING MEMBERS OF THE POLICE DEFARTMIENT OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO DO TVACHINE GUR AND PISTOL TARGET PRAC-
TICE'; TO PROVIDE FOR THE SUPERVISION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. All members of the Police Department of
the City of Little Rock shall engage in pistol target practice
once each month, and at such time of firing each member shall
fire ten shots.
SECTION 2. In addition to the pistol firing men-
tioned in Section 1, each member of the Detective Department,
and such uniformed policemen as the Chief of Police may desig-
nate, shall fire ten rounds of machine gun target practice each
month.
SECTION 3. The Chief of Police is authorized, at
his discretion, to relieve all commanding officers and those
officers who are engaged in office or clerical work from the
provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. The firing to be done under the provis-
ions of this ordinance shall be according to a schedule of
time, and at a place, or places, to be fixed and designated by
the Chief of Police, and shall be under the supervision of a
lieutenant, or other officer of higher rank.
SECTION 5. The Chief of Police is hereby instructed
and directed to purchase, and keep on hand, sufficient ammuni-
tion to enable the police officers to do the firing provided
for herein, and it shall be his duty to have the firing done as
set out in this ordinance.
SECTION 6. The Chief of Police and the Chief of De-
tectives shall keep in their respective offices a record of all

the Chief of Police shall, on or before the 10th of each month,
file with the City Council and the Civil Service Commission a
copy of such record for the previous month.
SECTION 7. It being ascertained and found by the
Little Rock City Council that violent crime is frequently com-
