AN ORDINANCE. AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF PUBLIC
AFFAIRS TO ADVERTISE FOR AND ACCEPT BIDS ON THREE AUTO -
MOBILES AND SPECIAL EWIPMENT FOR THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARK- NS AS; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, Cars nose being driven by the Chief of the Little
ocY� ire ) epartment and t.:e� cars operated by the Assistant chief's
I! of the Little Rock Fire Department are now more than five (5) years
old; and,
WHERE.-S, The car operated by ssistant Chief Carmichael
was wrecked on I,iarc'n 16, 1933 and has not been repaired or replaced;
and,
WHEREAS) It is necessary that said cars be purchased at
an early date so that the efficiency of the hire Department may not
be impaired; and,
`NHEREAS, It is necessary that said cars have special equip-
went adaptable to the Fire Department
Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THi, (.I`1Y OF LITTLr, ROCK,
ARKANSAS
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and :hoard of Public affairs be,
and they hereby are, authorized to receive bids and enter into a con-
tract for the purchase, of three (3) automobiles from the lowest res-
ponsible bidder, to be used by the Little -Rock Fire Department chief
and his two (2) assistants.
SECTION 2. That the cars shall be composed of one (1) Se-
dan and two (2) coupes which shall have the following special equip-
IIwent attached:
Each car shall be equipped with two (2) additional red
lights on the front to be operated by special switch.
Each car shall have Remley Radio equipment attached.
Each car shall be equipped with heavy duty generators.
Each car shall be painted the color of red as designated
by the Hire Department and lettered according to the
specifications of the Chief of the Hire Department as
is customary for cars used by this Department.
The cars shall be.equipped with leather up- holstery.
There shall be purchased to be attached to one of the
cars a siren. The brand of the siren shall be "Sireno ".

EC"ION 3. ;Whereas, it is necessary that the hereinbe-

fore mentioned equipment be purchases to aid the efficiency of the
?ire Department and, whereas, it is necessary to the protection of
the safety, health and .Nell being of tae citizens of said City of
Little dock, nrkansas that said Department be kept in an efficient
condition, :and, whereas, the acts provided in this ordinance result
in the benefit of the safety, peace, happiness and general welfare
of the citizens of the City of Little i7tock, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and ef-
fect from and after its passage and approval.
