AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY SCHEDULE OF ALL
OF THE EMPLOYEES OF THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE DEP-
ARTMENT AS OF FEBRUARY 1, 1937; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
SECTION 1. In order to better promote eff»
iciency in the Fire Department of the City of Little
Rock, it is hereby ordained that all employees of the
Little Rock Fire Department shall be graded by the length
of service that such employees have served in the res-
pective departments, and such divisions shall be as
follows:
(1) Employees who have served one (1) year or
less shall be known as "probation Men ".
(2) Those who have served more than one (1)
year and less than two (2) years shall be known as "two-
year men ".
(3)Those who have served more Vhan Two (2)
years and less than (3) years shall be known as "three-
year men ".
(4) Those who have served more than Three
(3) years and less than (4) years shall be known as
"four -year men ".
SECTION 2. Salary schedules for the class-
ification hereinabove set out shall be not to exceed
th4 respective amounts as follows:
(1) Probation men
(2) Two -year men
(3) Three -year men
(4) Four -year men

SECTION 3. Salary schedules herein provided
shall be effective as of February 1, 1937.
SECTION 4. It is hereby ordained that the Fire
Department shall have the following officers:

Chief of Fire Department, First Assistant Chief,
Second Assistant Chief, Third Assistant Chief, Inspector,
Secretary, Mechanic, Electrician, Captains, Junior Captains,
Operators, Laddermen and Hosemen.
SECTION 5. The Officers provided for in Section 4
herein shall receive not to exceed the following respective
salaries which shall be effective as of February 1, 1937.

SECTION 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. Whereas it is necessary, in order to pre-
pare the budget for the City of Little Rock for the ensuing fis-
cal year, that this ordinance become effective immediately, an
emergency is, therefore, hereby declared to exist and this ord-
inance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health and safety and same shall be in full
force and effect from and after it passage and approval.
