AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE TIME OF LEASE GRANTED TO THE E C WEHFRITZ MACHINERY & SUPPLY COMPANY BY ORDINANCE NO 959 PASSED FEB $th, 1903, NOW ASSIGNED TO MRS M E LYON AND THE WESTERN NEWSPAPER UNION? FROM THE YEAR 1930 TOR A TERM ENDING March 5thp 1940. Whereas the lease for switch or spur track granted to E C Wehrfritz Mchy & Supply Co., 1903 by Ordinance No. 959 expired on March 5th,1930; And whereas, the spur present owner and lessee Newspaper Union, and no extended said lease, Now, therefore, track is and has been used continuously by the of the property, Mrs M E Lyon and the Western record can be found where the city council has BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARK: Section #1. That the 0 Mrs. M.E. Lyon and the Western Newspaper Union, for the purpose of enabling better facilities for Manufacturing, be authorized to make a turn out on the line of the switch or spur track which has been constructed by the Choctaw and Memphis R.R. Co. under the provisions of Ordinance No. ?90 adopted March 5th 1900, beginning at or near the center of the west side of commerce St. between Markham and Second Sts. opposite Lot ?, block 10, Popes a,ldition, and being a contin- uation of a spur track, now a spur of the Switch or a spur running across Commerce St in line with present switch in an easterly direction into the building now occupied by the Western Newspaper Union. Provided said extension or switch shall be so constructed as not to interfer with traffic on said street and sidewalks and the said Western Newspaper Union shall have and keep paved with Brick the Street between the rails and two feet on each side of the rail of said street (spur) and provided further that no cars shall be permitted to stand upon any part of the crossing of said switch with 2nd Street under penalty of forfeiture of all rights and privileges granted hereinunder, provided that the said grant shall be made for a term ending March 5th, 1940. Provided further that the same shall be granted in cons # #deration of the said Mrs. M.E. Lyons and the Western Newspaper Union shall pay to the City Collector annualy durtng continuation of said grant the sum of #12.50 each, making a total of $25.00 per annum, payable in advance. Section #2. That this lease should be renewed at once in order to preserve the health, promote the safety, and insure the police power of said City an emergency in declared and this ordinance shall be enforced and take effect from and after its passing.
