5531ORDINANCE NO. 5531 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY SCHEDULE OF ALL OF THE EMPLOYES OF THE LIT`1'LE ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT AS OF JANUARY 1, 1938; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE'W'ITH; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. In order to better promote efficiency in the Fire Department of the City of Little Rock, it is hereby ordained that all employes of the Little Rock Fire Department shall be graded by the length of service that such employes have served in the respective departments, and such divisions shall be as follows: (1) Employes who have served one (1) year or less shall be known as "Probation men ". (2) Those who have served more than one (1) year and less than (2) two years shall be known as "Two —Year Men ". (3) Those who have,served more than Two (2) years and less than three (3) years shall be known as "Three —Year .lien ". Section 2. Salary schedules for the classification here- inabove set out shall be not to exceed the respective amounts as follows: (1) Probation Men $107.00 Per '.1onth (2) Two —Year Men 117.50 (�) Three —Year Men 119.50 O Those who have served more than (3) years shall receive not to exceed 127.50 Section 3. Salary schedules herein provided shall be effective as of January 1, 1938- Section 4. It is hereby ordained that the Fire Department shall have the following officers: Chief of Fire Department, First Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, Third Assistant Chief, Inspector, Secretary, Mechanic, Electrician, Captains, Junior Captains, Operators, Laddermen and Hoseman. Section 5. The Officers provided for in Section 4 herein shall receive not to exceed the following respective salaries which shall be effective as of January 1, 1938: (Per month) ♦ - 1 Chief of Fire De -oartment $240.00 First Assistant Chief 187.50 Second " " 172.50 Third " " 162.50 Inspector 147.50 Secretary 142.50 Mechanic 142.50 Electrician 142.50 Operators 132.50 Captains 1 2.50 Junior Captains 137.50 Drivers 132.50 Laddermen 127.50 Hosemen 127.50 Secticn 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 7. Whereas it is necessary, in order to prepare the budget for the City of Little Rock for the ensuing fiscal year, that this ordinance become effective immediately, an emergency is, therefore, hereby declared to exist and this ordinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety and same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
