ORDINANCE N0. _55_49,
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEYS AND PARTS OF ALLEYS IN
AND THROUGH BLOCK FOUR (4), CENTENNIAL ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS: AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, there was originally platted and dedicated to the public
an alley through Block Your (4), Centennial. Addition to the City o
Little Rock, Arkansas, for use as a thoroughfare, upon and across which
alley has long since been constructed a large and permanent hospital
building owned and operated by the Baptist Denomination of Arkansas for
purposes of public charity; and,
WHEREAS, to interfere with the use of said building for hospital
purposes by reopening said alley would result in disrupting the ser-
vices rendered the public by said hospital;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SWTION is -That all alleys and parts of alleys originally platted
and dedicated as a right-of-way through Block Four (4), Centennial
Addition to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are hereby abandoned and
closed to public use.
SECTION 2: Whereas, it is important to the citizens of Little
Rock that the hospital constructed and operating on said block as a pub-
lic charity continue its work without the interruption incident to re-
opening said alleys and parts of alleys, the closing and abandonment
thereof is hereby found and declared to be for the benefit of the peace,
health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock, and an emergency is
daalared to exist, and this Or mope shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
