5726ORDINANCE # 5726. AN ORDINANCE GREATING THE POSITION OF PURCHASING AGENT FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK: PROVIDING FOR HIS APPOINTMENT: FIXING THE SALARY FOR: AND FOR RIMER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS i SECTION 1. There is hereby created the position of City Purchasing Agent for the City of Little Renck, Arkansas. Said Purchasing Agent shall be appointed by the Mayor of the Olt y ,. of Little Rock and approved by the Board of Public Affairs. Upon such appointment and approval by the Board, the said Bur- chasing Agent shall furnish a bond in the sum of Five Thp'us- j ' and Dollars ($5,000.00) conditioned upon the faithful pe rform- anoe of his duties. The premiums on such bond shall be paid by the City. SECTION 2. Said Purohasing..Agent shall be under the dir- action of the Mayor and shall perform such duties as the Mayor may prescribe with reference to the care, operation, supervi -' s ion, and control of all City property and equipment, and in addition said purchasing Agent shall oarefully investigate 01 requests for purohgses and make recommendations in reference .thereto to the Board of Public Affairs. SECTION 3. Said Purchasing Agent shall receive a salary of 0m Hundred Seventy Five Dollars ( $175.00) per month to be retroactive to April 18, 1939, said salary shall be payable -'as other City salaries are paid. SECTION 4. The said Purchasing Agent shall have the auth- ority to require all Department meads of the City of Little Rock to anticipate supplies or stapde articles and furnish him with a-list of -such requirements so that q purcha sag - of 6 ity equpsient and supplies may be made on an economical and business like basis. SECTION 5. Whereas it is the judgment of the City Cofteil that a Purchasing Agent can of foot immediate savings for the Cityr an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, affi safety, and same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
