5748ORDINANCE #74&,_ AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE PRACTICING OF CERTAIN PROFESSIONS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO BE A PRIVILEGE; DEFINING THE PROFESSIONS; FIXING AN ANNUAL PRIVILEGE TAX THEREFOR; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION.1. From and after the passage, approval, and publi °cation of thia :0,j cdxlnance, the business of practicing certain pro- fessions hereinafter defined within the City of Little Rock is declared to be a privilege and all professional men engaged in such professions shall pay an annual privilege tax in the sum of Twenty -five Dollars ($25.00). Said privilege tax shall be col- . lected by the City Collector. SECTION 2. "Professional men" as used herein is hereby specifically defined to include both men and women who are en- gaged in the City of Little hock as attorneys, doctors, dentists, architects, engineers, chiropractors, osteopaths, and opticians. Anyone engaged in any of the above set out professions and any other occupation customarily classed or recognized as a profession shall be included in the terms of this Ordinance. SECTION 3. Any person engaged in practicing any profession herein specified without having paid the privilege tax herein le- vied shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in the Little Rock Municipal Court may be fined in any sum not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) nor more than Fifty Dollars (450) and each day that such violation continues shall constitute a separate offense. SECTION 4. WHEREAS; it is necessary for the City of Little Rock to equalize privilege tax schedules and such equalization should be effective immediately in order to promote a fair schedule of payments by all persons affected by the Ordinance, therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, alth, and safety., and the same shall be in full force and effect rom and after its passage, approval, and publication as provided y law.
