5753r ORDINANCE #_5Z53# AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE TRANSMISSION AND SALE OF ELECTRIC POWER AND CURRENT WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO BE A PRIVILEGE; FIXING A.LICRNSF THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AR14NSAs SECTION 1. The business'of transmitting and selling electric current and /or power is declared to be a privilege and it is further declared that all persons, firms, and /or corporatio so engaged shall pay an annual license tax for the privilege of engaging in the sale and transmission of electric power and /or current in the City of Little Rack, Arkansas. SECTION 2. There is hereby levied as an annual li- cense tax for said privilege the sum of MV7 Thousand Dol- lars ($2-6,,000.00) which shall be due and payable annually, begin- ning in the year 1939. SECTION 3. Any person, firm, or corporation engaging 'in or carrying on the business herein specified without paying said tax within Thirty (30),days after notice by the City Collec- tor that said tax is due shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not less than Five Hundred Dollars ( 500.00)_nor more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00); and each day that such operation continues after payment is due and remains unpaid, shall constitute a sepa- rate offense. SECTION 4. In view of the depleted condition of the finances of the City necessitating curtailment" and health protection, and the fact that the business of trans- mitting and selling electric power and current is now being en- gaged in without the payment of a reasonable tax for the privilege an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
