ORDINANCE 5831.
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE, SUM OF $10,072.57 FROM
THE GENERAL FUND, THE SUM OF $1,186.67 FROM THE ROAD
FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING ADDITIONAL SALARIES TO
OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK WHO
WERE IN THE EMPLM1ENT OF THE CITY AS OF DECEMBER 15TH
1939; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE I`. — ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF :LTTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $109072.57
from the general fund of the city and the further sum of $1,186.67
from the road fund of the city which said sums shall be paid by the
Mayor and City Clerk to the officials and employees of the city who
were in the employment of the city as of December 15, 1939. Said
sums shall be paid to the employees in accordance with the bills
and payrolls approved by the Council December 18, 1939.
SECTION 2. WHEREAS, the city has now on hand sufficient funds to pay
out these amounts; and
WHEREAS, the employees of the city are all working for a
very low figure and all said employees are in immediate need of
said money, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this or-
dinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of
public peace, health and safety, and same shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
