5840ORDINANCE # 5g yN ORDINANCE MAKING IT A MISDEMEANOR FO,:� ANY PER6ON, FIRM OR CORPORATION TO ERECT OR START THE ERECTION OF ANY BUILDING WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK !,'ITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A BUILDING PERMIT AS HERETOFORE PRO- VIDED BY LAW; FIXING A PENALTY THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINLD BY THE CITY LOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS { SECTION 1: From and after the passage and approval of h this Ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpora tion to erect or begin the erection of any building of any characte Nithin the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, without first obtaining a permit for the erection of such building from the City Engineer of the City of Little Rock as is now provided by law. Any constructio avork of any kind started in advance of securing a building permit is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor and any person, firm, or corporation engaging in any building operation without first obtain ing a building permit shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and pon conviction in the Little Rock Municipal Court shall be fined n any sum not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor more than Five undred Dollars ($500.00), and each day that such violation conti- ues shall be deemed a separate offense. SECTION 2: 1'HI _EAS; it is necessary to protect the zealth of the citizens of the City of Little Rock that all buildinE plans for all buildings be properly inspected and that permits be regularly issued before any building is begun and that all inspec- tions for the protection of the health of the citizens of the City of Little Rock be provided for, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public, peace, health, and safety, and.the same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. ?ASSED: January 22, 1940 ' A D ayo ATTEST • City Clerk i�
