5914Fr" ORDINANCE NO. 5914 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING REVISED RATE SCHEDULE NO. 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER WORKS SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF SAID SCHEDULE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Board of Water Works Commissioners of the City of Little Rock, has by proper resolution determined upon a rate reduction of approximately $50,000 per annum and pro- viding for the establishment of a new schedule of rates to become effective upon all bills presented to consumers on and after July 15, 1940, and have presented to the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas a copy of said schedule with the request that the City Council make said new schedule of rates effective: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the following schedule of rates be and the same is hereby established and approved: EXHIBIT "A" REVISED RATE SCHEDULE NO. $ OF THE LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL WATER WORKS APPLICATION. This schedule is applicable to all water and water service supplied by the Little Rock Municipal Water Works from and after the effective date hereof. METER MEASUREMENT. All water and water service supplied by the Little Rock Municipal Water Works shall be measured through meters, except that used from Fire Hydrants for the prevention and extinguishment of fires, and that reasonably necessary for flushing of streets and sew- ers, testing of fire hydrants, and practice of city firemen. RATES. METERED SERVICE. Subject to the meter minima and penalties hereinafter set out, the following rates shall apply to all measured water service, except that supplied the City of Little Rock. Per 100 Cubic Feet For the first 13,300 cubic feet per month, or less 25 cents For the next 20,000 cubic feet per month, or any part thereof 20 cents For the next 32,000 cubic feet per month, or any part thereof 15 cents For the next 58,000 cubic feet per month, or any part thereof 11.5 cents For the excess of any quantity over 123,300 cubic feet per month, 6.75 cents Note. - -One cubic foot of water is equivalent to 7J gallons weighing 621 pounds avoirdupois. All water used by the City of Little Rock and not included in the water furnished under the Public Fire Service Clause hereof shall be metered and paid for at the rate of 10¢ per hundred cubic feet, and shall not be subject to the meter minima. METER MINIMA. For 'J -inch meter (5/8 -inch thread) $1.00 per month, except for residences occupied by one family having one water fixture, only, the minimum charge for water service shall be 75¢ per month. For meters larger than J -inch (5/8 -inch thread) the mini- mum charges for water service shall be proportional to the area of the size of the meter, based on a minimum of $1900 per month for J -inch meter (5/8 -inch thread). The size of the meter shall be commensurate with the use of water, and shall be determined by the Water Commission. PRIVATE FIRE SERVICE. Private fire service connections for private premises out- side the City Limits shall pay the following fire service charges: Automatic Sprinkler System - 1,000 heads or less subject to a minimum charge $27950 per year (All additional heads at 2 -3/4y each) Fire Connection, minimum charge .................... $27.50 per year Private Fire Hydrants, each ........................ $35.00 per year Standpipe, openings 14" diameter (or smaller),each. $ 5900 per year I I iL - 2 - Standpipe, openings 1i" diameter, each ............. $7.50 per year Standpipe, openings 2" diameter, each*.* ... *****9*$l2*50 per year Standpipe, openings 21" diameter, each............ $25900 per year PUBLIC FIRE SERVICE. The City of Little Rock shall pay to the Little Rock Muni- cipal Water Works for the privilege of taking water from fire hydrants for the prevention and extinguishment of fires, and that reasonably necessary for the flushing of streets, and sewers, testing fire hydrants, and the practice of dity firemen, a fire hydrant rental of 435.00 per hydrant per year. PAYMENT. BILLING. All bills shall be computed and rendered monthly• Payments for Private Fire service are to be made in equal semi - annual installments in advance on the first day of January and July. All annual rates for public fire service shall be payable in twelve equal monthly installments by the City of Little Rock on or before the twentieth (20th) day of each month for service furnished in the preceding month. PENALTY AND DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE. Where water bills are not paid before the twentieth (20th) day following the original date of billing, a ten per cent (10 %) penalty shall be added to the original bill. If the bills are not paid within thirty days from rendition, service shall be discontinued, and the pre- mises shall be disconnected from the water system. EFFECTIVE DATE OF SCHEDULE. This schedule shall become effective on all billings on and after July 15, 1940 for regular water service; July 1, 1940 for private fire service connections. i Section 2. That all ordinances, parts of ordinances, all rate schedules and all agreements for rates fixing charges for water or water service, supplied or to be supplied, by the City of Little Rock through its municipal water works system, be and the same are hereby repealed, set aside and held for naught.
