AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN F11PLOYEES OF THE LITTLE
ROCK STREET DEPART "EYT, LITTLE ROCK 11UNICIPAL AIRPORT, LITTLE ROCK
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT, REPEALING ALL ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PUR-
POSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 19 The salaries of certain employees of the Little
Eck Street Department, Little Rook Municipal Airport, Little Rock
Fire Department and Little Rock Police Department are hereby fixed
in accordance with the following schedule, to -wit:

POLICE DEPARTMENT.
For the purposes of this ordinance the following terms used
in describing and fixing; salaries in the Police Department are defined as
f ollows :
(a) First year patrolmen employed prior to May 1, 1940, refers
to employes who have served one year or less and vh o were employed prior 'go
May 1, 1940.
(b) First year patrolmen employed after May 1, 1940, refers to
employes who have served'one year or less and xm who were employed subsequent
to May 1, 1940.
(c) Second year men refers to employes who have served more than

(d) Third year men refers to employes who have served more than
two years ands less than three years.
(e) Fourth year men refers to employes who have served amore
than three years.
Section 4. The salaries set out above shall be effective from and
after July 1, 1940.
Section 5. WBEREAS, it is necessary in order to provide adequately
for the health, peace and well being of the citizens of Little Rock that the
salary schedules set out in this ordinance shall take effect at the earliest
possible time, an emeregency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
is found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
#ealth and safety and the some shall be in full force and effect in all of its
