6407Wr ORDINANCE NO._ 6402 -1 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE ZOO DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, DESCRIBING THE DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED BY SAID DEPARTMENT, CLASSIFYING AND CHANGING, ;1'?HERE NECESSARY, THE POSITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT THEREIN, ABOLISHING THE ZOO DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY ENGINEER'S OFFICE, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The Zoo Department of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas is here- by created; the duties and functions heretofore performed and discharged by the Zoo Department of the City Engineer's office pursuant to the terms of Ordinance Number 5556 of the City of Little Rock and the positions of employment therein are hereby transferred to the Zoo Department created by this ordinance. Section 2. The Zoo Department of the Engineer's office is hereby abolished'l Section 3. The positions of employment in the former Zoo department of the City Engineer's office and the duties of same are hereby reclassified and changed, where necessary, as followss A. The position of Curator shall Js henceforth be known as that of Superin- tendent. The Superintendent shall be the head of the Zoo Department; he shall discharge the duties formerly placed on the Curator by the ordinance creating his position and by the Civil Service Commission, and shall receive a salary of $175.00 per month. B. The position of Foreman shall henceforth be known as that of Assistant Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent shall be the assistant to the Super- intendent and shall discharge the duties formerly placed on the Foreman by the or— I, dinance creating the position and by the. Civil Service Commission and shall receive a salary of $3.10.00 per month. C. The Assistant Curator shall henceforth be known as the Curator First Class. He shall be subordinate to the Superintendent and to the Assistant Superin"ndent and siaa 1 --- discharge the duties formerly placed on the Assistant Curator by the or- dinance creating the position and by the Civil Service Commission and shall receive a salary of $105.00 per month. The Utility Man shall henceforth be known as the Curator Second Class. He shall be subordinate to the Superintendent and to the Assistant Superintendent and shall discharge the duties formerly placed on the Utility Man by the ordinances creating the position and by the Civil Service Commission and shall receive a salary of $90.00 per month, and house and water. .� as r a D. The helpers shall henceforth be known as Assistant Curators. They shall be subordinate to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent, and the Curat- ors; they shall discharge the duties formerly placed on Helpers by the ordinances creating the positions and by the Civil Service Commission and shall receive a sal- ary of $75.00 per month each. The night watchman shall continue to be known as Night watchman. He shall receive a salary of $60.00 per month. Section 4. In the event that any vacancies occur in the positions described in Section 3 of this ordinance, said vacancies shall be filled by the Civil Service Commission in the manner prescribed by lax. I Section 5. WHEREAS, the efficient administration of a municipal zoo is of vital importance to the health and safety of the population at large, an emer- gency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
