AN ORDINANCE CREATING EIGHT POSITIONS OF SPECIAL POLICEMEN,
FIXING THE SALARY TBEREOF, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There are hereby created eight positions
_ 0 age 4*1 policemen to be selected by the Chief of Police - nd
the Police Committee. The duties of the special policemen
provided for in this ordinance shall be to police the area z
immediately adjacent to West Ninth Street in the City of Little
Rock and to perform such other duties as may be assigned to them
by the Chie f of Pol i ea.
SECTION 2. The persons chosen to fill the positions
created by this ordinance may belong, if desired by the Police
Committee and Chief of Police, to the colored or negro race.
SECTION 3. Persons chosen to fill the positions
created-by Section 1 of this ordinance shall each be paid the
6*1ary. of One Hundred Hive Dollars per month.
SECTION 4. The employment authorized under this
ordinance shall cease on July 1, 1943.
SECTION 5. The efficient administratJ4pn of the matters
effecting the police force of this city being vital to the
peace,, health . and safety,, an emergency is hereby declared to
exist and this ordinance shall be in fall force and effect from
and after its passage and approval.
