AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF ABANDONED PROPERTY IN THE POSSESSION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, PRESCRIBING THE PROCEDURE TO,BE FOLLOWED IN THE SALE OF SUCH PROPERTY, PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION OF THE PROCEEDS REALIZED FROM SUCH SALES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. Definition: The.,term, "Abandoned Property ", shall refer to and include the following: All personal pro- perty, including automobiles, found on the a t`reets of the City of Little Rock and in the possession of the Little Rock Police Department, and /or any other personal property including automobiles rightfully coming into the possession of the Little Rock Police Department, which has not been claimed and retaken by any person claiming to be the owner, within a period of three months after the personal property comes into the poss- ession of the Police Department. SECTION 2. The j sale shall be conducted by the Police Department, which is authorized to receive bids for individual items, groups of items, or for the entire list of abandoned property being Y` offered for sale. The official conducting the sale is further authorized to reject all bids if, in his opinion, it is desir- able to do so. SECTION 3. A description of ali articles offered for sale shall be kept in a book maintained by the Police Department, which book shall reflect w�ien and where each ,article was offered for sale, and the price received therefor. ;SECTION 4. The proceeds received from any such sale of abandoned property shall be turned in to the City Treasurer t.o be held by him in a separate account for a poriod of six months. During this six months' period, any person claiming to be the owner of any abandoned property sold as set out above may-make claim for the proceeds of said sale. If said person successfully establishes ownership of any of such articles, he shall be paid the amount realized from the sale of his abandoned chattel. Any sums remaining in the hands of the City Treasurer.; and not claimed within the six months' period, shall be paid into the General revenue fund of the City of Little Rock. SECTION 5.
