T3 s Birea ,1` be eot�ei -� chiefly with the protection of juveniles and the apprehension of juvenile delinquents and shall discharge such other responsi- bilities as may be assigned to it by the Chief of Police. SECTION 2. Special assistant to the Chief of Police shall be in enarge Ox' the bureau ana sne snail be answerable alrectly to the Chief of Police. SECTION 3. There are hereby created fCUr('4y, positions of policewomen, who shall work in the Women's Bureau created in section 1 of this ordinance, and who shall discharge the duties aw's inn- by the head of the Bureau and by the Chief of i1o11 ee; and they shall have the same power and authority in the preservation of the public peace, health and safety that are possessed by male members of the Police Department. C SECTION Persons chosen to fill the positions created r by section 3 of this ordinance shall be chosen by the Civil Service Commission,in the manner provided by law; they shall be white females between 21 and 45 years of age; they shall pass a physical examina- tion to determine their capacity to discharge the duties of their employment; but they need not be electors of the City of Little H. Rdii3r, drkaasas,.and they need not-have re,4ided in Little Rc?4k, Arkansas, for any definite or .minimum period of time prior to their employment. SECTION The persons chosen to fill the positions created by section. 3 Hof this ordinance shall have the same rank as that now possessed by patrolmen in the Little Rock Police De- partment and shall be paid the same amounts and in the same fashion as patrolmen are paid. SECTION `6. 1!1uEREAS, at the present time there is no branch of the city government concerned exclusively with the problem of , Ju.venile delinslueney,an.d WHEREAS, the public peace, health and safety is endangered thereby, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
