BE IT ORD41NED BY ME CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SWTIGN 1. All employees of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, other than officials elected in the city general elections who are drafted or ordered by authority of law, whether state or federal, into defense work or who are ordered by the War Manpower Commission to undertake other employment and duties are hereby protected in the Civil Service status they enjoyed At the time they. ceased discharging functions for the City of Little Rock, and said employees are hereby granted a leave of absence from the City's employment. On their discharge from the employment to which they are assigned by the authority of law or by the Fear Manpower Commission, each of said employees may return to the position of employment held on leaving the employ of the city, without loss of rank. Said employees shall retain the Civil Service status held by them at the time they left the City's employment; and they shall be given credit in their seniority and /or pension records for all the time spent in said other employment, in exactly the same fashion as if they had spent said time in the employment of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. Provided, however, that any perscu.. desiring to avail himself of the benefits of this ordinance, must make application for reinstatement with the Civil Service pisaieu� within 120 -days after his discharge from said employment or from his return to the Continental United States following said discharge,, whichever shall occur last. The efficient prosecution of the war in which the United States of America is now involved being vital to the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after Its passage.
