AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITII` ?G DIITCIITG ON SUNDAYS IN CERTAIN PLACES; RAKING
VIOLATIONS A MISDEMEANOR; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Hereafter no person, firm or corporation conducting
or operating or in charge of a public place of business shall allow
dancing or a public dance to be conducted or permitted on any Sunday
in any such public place of business.
SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating Section 1
of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic-
tion shall be fined in any sum not less than 425.00 nor more than
250.00, or imprisoned for not exceeding 30 days or both; and each
Sunday that said violation continues shall constitute a separate
offense.
SECTION 3. The term "public place of business" refers to any
restaurant, cafe, cabaret or other place of business holding itself
out as open to the public. The term shall be interpreted liberally.
SECTION 4. Because dancing is now permitted in certain public
places of business in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; and because
this condition_ contributes to delinquency and immorality, an emergency
is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance, being necessary for
the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall be in
full force and effect from and after its passage.
