AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION TWO OF ORDINANCE NO. 1844; REPEALING
VARIOUS SECTIONS OF ORDINANCE N0. 1844; ASSIGNING VARIOUS EMPLOYEES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1844 of the Ordinances of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows;
"For the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Ordinance
and other health ordinances, the Mayor shall appoint, subject to the
approval of the City Council, a Health Officer, who shall be a competent
physician, legally qualified to practice medicine within the State of
Arkansas, a graduate of a reputable medical college, with five years of
actual experience in the practice of medicine and of reputable pro-
fessional standing, who shall have direct control and supervision of
the Health Department."
SECTION 2, Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7-and 8 of Ordinance No. 1844 of
the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are hereby re-
pealed in their entirety.
SECTION 39 The following employees and the duties discharged by
each are hereby assigned to the Health Department and shall be under
the direct control and supervision of the Health Officer;

SECTION 4. The position of Plumbing Inspector is hereby trans-
ferred from the Health Department and henceforth shall be attached
to the City Engineer's Office.
SECTION 5. Because the efficient operation of the Health Depart-
ment requires a clarification of the positions of employment in and
the duties assigned to the Health Department, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this Ordinance being necessary for the public
peace, health and safety, shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage.
