AN,ORDINANCE AMENDING. SECTION 4 (A) OF ORDINANCE NO. 5843 PASSED
JANUARY 22, 1940; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. From and after the passage of this Ordinance,
Section 4 (a) of Ordinance No. 5843 shall be amended to read as

"Personnel of Traffic Division. (a) Traffic Commissioner.
The Traffic Commissioner in the table of organization of the Police
Department shall have the rank of a Captain of Police and shall .
receive the salary of a Captain of Police. The Traffic, Commissioner
shall be chosen in a competitive examination conducted by the Civil
Service Commission, and thereafter shall be subject to and possess
all of the rights-granted by the Civil Service laws of the State of
Arkansas ,and the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock. In case of
resignation or remaxdt from the office of Traffic Commissioner under
charges which do not disqualify him from further service in the Police
llbpa- taent, he shall revert to the statue of Lie utenan cf eal e. s
He shall be chosen by the Civil Service Commission, as set out above,
and shall be directly responsible to the Chief of Police. It shall
be his duty to direct the general. functions of the Traffic Division
and shall also perform the duties of a traffic engineer in these
functions and respects hereinafter indicated."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after
