AN ORDINANCE CREATING EIGHT ADDITIONAL POSITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT IN THE
SPECIAL POLICE, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 6561 OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 19 There are hereby created eight additional positions
of employment in the special police of the City of Little Rock, which
positions of employment shall be in addition to. all other. positicta: {_oaf.
employment now existing in the special police classification of the
City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. The persons chosen to fill the positions of employ
ment created in Section 1 of this Ordinance shall be chosen in the
same manner and subject to all the qualifications and restrictions
as are now required of and imposed on persons filling the other
positions of special police of the Little Rook Police Department.
SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 6561 of the Ordinances of the City of
Little Rock is hereby amended to conform to the foregoing provision.
SECTION 4. Because the City of Little Rock is unable to obtain
through the regular Civil Service procedure all of the policemen it
needs for the protection of the citizens of Little Rook and their
property; and because the Police Department is at present undermanned
and in extreme need of additional policemen, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this Ordinance i$ found to be necessary for the
preservation of the public peace, health and safety and the same shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
