6841ORDINANCE NO. 6841 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF HEALTH EDUCATOR IN THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The position of Health Educator is hereby created in the Little Rock Health Department. This position shall be under the administrative direction of the City Health andorA such athe arson ©r p ®rsons as 9�� ma�q _,dap �i.zta�te x�� s e and the person chosen to fill it shall be charged with the re- sponsibility of planning and executing a complete public health education program in t he City Health Department. SECTION 2. The person chosen to fill the job created in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be. chosen by the Civil Service Commission, and shall possess the following Vinimum Qualifications: 1. Master's degree in Public Health Education or Master's degree in Public Health with major in Public Health education, and Bachelor's degree* or its equivalent with major work in one of the natural sciences, social sciences, or education, from an accredited college or university. 2. Two years of successful full -time paid employment in public health education, OR font years of suocessfulir full -time paid employment In related fie1d4, °- education, community organization, or group,*ork. I 3. Adequate knowledge of educational tedhniques; adequate knowledge of the principles and practices of public health, and of the Arkansas and federal laws relating to public health; knowledge of the functions of other official and voluntary agencies as they relate to the public health program; and a knowledge of current social economic problems pertaining to public health. 4. Demonstrated ability to work with others, to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions; to present comments and opinions clearly and concisely; to speak in public; and to deal tactfully with the public, as evidenced by an investigation and a passing grade in an oral interview. 59 Such personal characteristics as creative ability, leader- ship, personal health, good judgment, pleasing & I 'and adaptability. 6. Not over forty years of age when first employed in full - time public health work. - 1 - C` SECTION 3. The person chosen to fill the position created in Section 1 of this ordinance shall receive as monthly salary from the'City of Little Rock, not less than Eighty Seven and One Half'Dollars and not more than One Hundred Twelve Dollars and Fifty Cents, as the same may from time to time be fixed by the City _H®,alth Officer, with the' advice and consent of the, City- :Health ion. $ail. p®raan, shall ale`o reeeive from .t lie C3'�fy, ae allowance for traveling expenses, not less than Twenty Five Dollars per month, nor more than Fifty Dollars per month, as such travel expenses may be fixed from time to time by the City Health Officer.
