ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 4866 KNOWN AS THE BUILDING
CODE ORDINANCE TO PERMIT THE OWNERS OF THE MARION HOTEL PRO-
PERTY LOCATED AT 200 WEST MARKHAM STREET TO REPAIR THE EXIST-
ING PORCH STRUCTURE EXTENDING OVER THE SIDEWALK, AND TO EXTEND
SAID EXISTING PORCH TWENTY -EIGHT FEET ON EACH SIDE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That the owners of the property known as
the Marion Hotel, located at 200 West Markham Street, are
hereby permitted to remodel the present porch structure of
the Hotel which is sixty -four feet long and extends fourteen
feet over the sidewalk from the building line on West Markham
Street, and to extend said porch at its present height above
the sidewalk twenty -eight feet on each side in the following
manner, to wit:
Remove six wood columns from the existing structure
.and replace with concrete columns and remove wood
pergola from the roof on existing porch and not re-
place same. The extensions authorized are.to be of
concrete and steel and supported by four reinforced
concrete columns constructed thirty inches from the
curb line.
SECTIOI.` 2. That Ordinance l o. 4866 known as the Build-
ing Code Ordinance is hereby amended to permit the remodeling
and extension of said porch as outlined in Section 1 hereof.
SECTION 3. The City Engineer is authorized and directed
to issue a permit for said construction.
SECTION 4. Whereas, said remodeling of the existing
porch structure of the Marion Hotel will reduce the fire hazard,
an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance being nec-
essary for the immediate preservation of the.public.peace,
health and safety shall take effect and be enforced from and
after the date of its passage and approval.
