AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO A BUILD -
ING OF ORDINARY CONSTRUCTION AT EIGIff`H AND RICE STREETS,
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, WHICH WILL RESULT IN A BUILDING OF
MORE THAN 6000 SQUARE FEET IN AREA WITHOUT FIREWALL, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 4866, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS-*,
SECTION 1. That Southwestern Bell Telephone Company owns
property located between Seventh and Eighth Streets and between
Rice Street and Thayer Street and the Rock Island Railway, in
the City of Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, and more
particularly described as follows; Block Twenty (20) Capitol
Hill Extension to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; that in
order to properly utilize said property said Company is required
to make alterations and additions to a building ®f ordinary
construction for business or storage purposes, which will result
in a building of ordinary construction exceeding 6000 square
feet" in area, without a firewall.
SECTION 2. That said property is located outside the
congested area of the City; that the additions and alterations
will not create a hazardous condition since neither this build-
ing nor those nearby on said property will be used for com-
bustible occupancy, since it will not be near any combustible
buildings, and since such alterations and additions will not
involve.use of combustible material in the structural parts
of said building.
SECTION 3. That Article 4, Section 34, Paragraph 7, of
Ordinance No. 4866 be and it is hereby amended for the purpose
only of permitting the owner of the above described property
to make alterations and additions to a building of ordinary

construction for business or storage purposes, as above
described, exceeding 6000 square feet in area, without the
necessity of a firewall. That the City Engineer of the City

of Little Rock, Arkansas, be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to issue a permit authorizing such alterations and
additions.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after its passage.
