AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR MILITARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE
NOT TO EXCEED TWO WEEKS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES, PROVIDING
SUPPLEMENT PAY BY THE CITY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Certain Civil Service Employees of the City
of Little Rock are members of the military, or naval reserve
corps of the United States or of the State National Guard,
and
WHEREAS, This military or naval status requires period-
ic active duty,
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That upon proper application and upon approval
of the department head, each employee of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas may be granted a leave of absence not to exceed
two weeks each calendar year for the purpose of service on
active military, naval, or national guard duty.
SECTION 2. It shall be the duty of each department
head to take steps to provide and assure that the minimum per-
sonnel requirements of his department will be met before such
leaves are approved.
SECTION 3. In the event that the pay received from the
United States Government by said employee while on active duty
does not equal or exceed the City salary of such emplo�,ee, the
City will pay said employee in such an amount as is necessary
to supplement said military pay to equal his regular salary
paid by the City.
SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval.
