7668ORDINANCE N0. 7669 AN ORDINANCE CREATING__TEN_aq) ADDITIONAL POSITIONS OF TRUCK DRIVER IN TJiE - "$T � - -: EPARTP NT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ESTABLISHING -SALARY THE REFOR, THE TFR1,4IT?- ATI ON DATE OF THE ORDINANCE, DECLARING AN EI- ERGFNCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT JRDAINED RY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARK- ANSAS: SECTION 1. Ten (10) additional positions of Truck Driver are hereby created in the Department of the City of Little Rock. The persons chosen to fill these positions shall be select- ed by the Civil Service Commission of the City of Little Rock as now provided by law, and such persons shall have such qualifications as are set out by the Civil Service Commission. The salaries of such truck drivers shall be in the sum of x;175.32 per month, and shall be paid from the Street and Auto funds of the City. SECTION 2. The persons employed to fill the positions creat- ed by this ordinance shall be employed for the repairing and main- tenance of the streets of the City of Little Rock, and the posit- ions created by this Ordinance shall terminate on the 1st day of December, 1948. Such employees shall be under the direction, supervision, and control of the City Engineer and shall perform such work and do such duties as is directed by the City Engineer of the City of Little Rock not inconsistent with the terns and provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 3. In the event that the City Engineer finds it unnecessary to fill all 10 positions created by this Ordinance, he is empowered to fill only as many positions as is necessary to complete the contemplated work, after such persons have been duly certified by the Civil Service Commission. SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions of this ordin- ance are put into effect immediately, the public peace, health and safety cf the citizens of Little Rock will be adversely affect- ed., therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
