BE IT ORDAINED BV THE CITY COUNCIL CP CIT "-' OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3019 fourth paragraph. of Ordinance
No. 7888 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
Any building or portion thereof, including any building or
structure in process of erection, if found to be dangerous to per-
sons or property, or unsafe for the purpose for which it is being
used, or in danger fron, fire due to defects in construction, or dan-
gerous for use because of insufficient means of egress in case of
fire or which violated the provisions of this Code, or which has be-
come damaged by the elements or by fire, provided however, that such
damaue by fire exceeds 500 of the value of the building, may be con-
demned by the Building* Inspector. The Building Inspector may order
portions of the structural frame of a building or structure to be
exposed for inspection when in his opinion they are in unsafe con-
dition. In any of the aforesaid cases the Building; Inspector shall
serve notice in writing on the ovmers, reputed owner or person in
charge of such a building or premises, setting forth what must be
done to make such building safe. The person receiving such notice
shall commence within forty -eight hours thereafter to rake the
changes, repairs, or alterations set out in such notice and diligent-
ly proceed with such work or demolish the building. No such build-
ing shall be occupied or used for any purpose after the Building In-
spector serves written notice of its unsafe or dangerous condition
until the instructions of the Building Inspector have been complied
with.
SECTION 2. That Section 802, Page 16, of Ordinance No. 7888
be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following:
(c) Public and private school buildings of one story in height
having roof construction and decking of incomustible materials, may
exceed the allowable floor area required in Paragraph A for Type II
buildings by 500.

SECTION 3. That Section 804, paragraph five, of Ordinance No.
7888 be and the same is hereby amended as follows:
Delete the following line: "Corridors shall be at least eight
(8) feet w,ide,tt and substitute the following:
Corridors shall have a clear width of 8 inches plus .22 inches
times the number of people who may be reasonably expected to occupy
rooms opening into such corridors, provided that no corridor shall
be less than six (6) feet in width. Doors opening into corridors
shall not decrease such width by more than one (1) foot when fully
open."
SECTION 4. That Section 1809, Page 30, of Ordinance No. 7888
be and the sane is hereby amended as follows:
Delete Paragraph 3 and substitute the following:
Where every part of the structural steel framework of a roof
of a Group A and C building is more than eighteen (18) feet and less
than twenty -five feet (25) above any floor or balcony, the steel
construction shall be protected by a suspended ceiling of no less
than one hour fire resistive construction as specified in Chapter
43, and such ceiling shall not be less than six (6) inches from
any part of such steel construction.
u'dhen every part of the structural steel framework of a roof of
a Group A and C building is more than twenty -five (25) feet above
any balcony or floor, fireproofing of all members of the roof con-
struction may be omitted.
When every part of the structural steel framework of the roof
of a Group B building is more than twenty (20) feet above any floor
or balcony, fireproofing of all members of roof construction may be
omitted.
SECTION 5. That Section 3803, Page 813 of Ordinance No. 7888
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
All buildings in excess of three (3) stories in height, shall
be equipped v -ith one or more interior standpipes extending from
cellar or basement to the rcof, except that Type III buildings when
used as storage Carages, need not be equipped with interior stand-
pipes but shall be equipped with a standard automatic sprinkler sys-
tem as required by Section 6801, Paragraph 6.

SECTION 6. That Section 3804, Paragraphs 1 and 2, of Ordinance
No. 7888, be and the same i� hereby amended to read as follows:
Interior standpipes and fittings shall be constructed of stand-
and wrought iron or steel, where the working pressure required is
nct in excess of 150 pounds per square inch. Extra strong pipe
and extra heavy fittings and valves shall be used where the working
pressure required is in excess of 150 pounds per square inch. The
size for interior standpipes shall be four (4) inches for buildings
not exceeding six (6) stories in height and six (6) inches for build-
ings exceeding six (6) stories in height.
All interior standpipes shall be equipped with two (2) outlets
on each floor having an independent control valve on each outlet.
One outlet for Fire Department use shall have an inside diareter two
and one -half (22) inches and the National Standard fire hose coupling
screw - thread of seven and one -half (72) threads per inch. The other
outlet on each floor for first aid use shall have an inside diameter
of one and one -half' (12) inches and American Standard taper pipe
threads of eleven and one -half (112) threads per inch, and shall have
hose attached at all times.
SECTION 7. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed. Unless the provisions of this ordinance
are put into effect immediately, the peace, health and safety of the
citizens of Little Rock will be adversely affected; therefore., an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
