8237ORDINANCE No. 8237 Ali ORIJINANOZE AldENDING ORDINANCE No. 6836 SO AS TO MORE SPECIFICALLY DEFINE THE POWERS iU& DUTIES OF THE CITY OFFICIALS IN TIC ENFORCEMENT OF THE PROVISIONS ft OF SAID ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FOR OTHER. PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY TIC CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AHKANSAS; SECTION 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 6836 of the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as follows: That whenever the Health Officer notifies the occupant or occupants of a business building that there is evidence of rat infestation of the building said occupant or occupants shall immediately institute appropriate measures for freeing the premises each occupies of all rats, and that unless suitable measures for freeing the building of rats are instituted within fifteen (15) days after receipt of notice and unless continuously maintained in a satisfactory manner until the building is free from rats the Health Gfficer shall immediately certify the name or names there- of of such offenders to the City :attorney, who shall, after receiving such name or names, promptly institute appropriate action against said offenders, as provided by Section 13 hereof; provided further, that the City Health Officer shall not engage in the business of exterminating rats, but shall confine his duties hereunder to inspection and enforcement. SECTION 2. It having; been ascertained that the public health,, peace and safety are directly affected by the provisions of this ordinance, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
