AN ORDINANCE AWENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7023 BY PROVIDING FOR AN
ADDITIONAL MILK CLASSIFICATION TO BE KNO19N AS GRADE "A" PLANT MILK:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE, CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7023 is hereby amended by adding
thereto an additional classification of milk to be known as grade "A"
Plant ylilk.
Section 2. Grade "A" Plant ilk is hereby defined as raw milk,
the average bacterial count of which does not exceed 100,000 per
cubic centimeter, which is produced on farms conforming with all of
the requirements of this ordinance.
Section 3. That in addition to the requirements of section 7 of
Ordinance No. 7023 farms that produce Grade "All Plant Milk must meet
the following additional requirements;
Dairy barn, walls, and ceilings: All dairy barns shall be ceiled
throughout and painted inside once every two years, or oftener if
necessary. No feed shall be stored in the milking portion of the
dairy barn. ii11 window sash shall be set in framing and so
constructed to open to provide for adequate ventilation. The milking
portion of the barn shall be equipped with or accessible to, running
water. If wood is used in the construction, the walls of all future
dairy barns shall be built on concrete curbing at least 24 inches high.
Cow Yards: All cow yards shall be graded to drain, and as much
of the yard concreted, or other suitable material used, as is
deemed necessary by the Health Officer.
Milk houses or rooms: k11 milk rooms shall be equipped with
running water and adequate permanent fixtures for heating water.
All future milk houses or rooms shall be not less than 12 x 14 feet
in floor area and natural lighting at least 15% of the floor area.
All milk rooms constructed hereafter, if of wood, shall have the
walls set on concrete curbing at least 36" above the floor.
Section 4. It is not the intention of this ordinance to repeal
any portion of Ordinance No. 7023, but to add the above additional
milk classification with the requirements as herein provided.

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect 120 days after its passage.
