ORDINANCE NO. 8456.
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE
WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION AND DIRECTING A PERMIT TO
BE ISSUED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING IN ACCORDANCE WITH
SAID PLANS AND ` 77CIFICATIONS AND FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE
BUILDING CODE THEREFOR PAND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Westinghouse Electric Corporation has perfected
plans and specifications and begun construction of a modern type
building in Little Rock for the manufacture of electric lamps
and other equipment /adjoining the building already constructed
therefor under.. amendment to the building code heretofore granted
to Westinghouse Corporation, and
Whereas, it is necessary and desirable that Westinghouse
Electric ''orporation construct said building in accordance with
the plans and specifications heretofore submitted to the City
Engineer for approval in order to carry on its method of
manufacturing, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer is unable to approve said plans
and specifications under the present code,
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of
Little Rock:
Section 1. THAT the plans and specifications of the
Westinghouse Electric Corporation for the construction of the
building adjoining the present plant of Westinghouse Electric
Corporation in accordance with the plans and specifications now
on file with the City Engineer, be and the same are hereby
approved and a permit is hereby granted to " estinghouse Electric
Corporation for construction of said building in accordance with
the plans and specifications on file with the City Engineer,
and the City Engineer is directed to issue a permit to

said building.
Section 2. THAT the building code of Little Rock be and
the same is hereby amended to set aside and hold for naught
said building code in so far as same applies to said building.

said building and the work is being delayed because of the
lack of approval by the Gity Engineer, an emergency is hereby
declared and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
