AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE STATE OF ARKANSAS TO OB TAI N INSURANCE
COVERAGE FOR ALL THE NON UNIFORM 3 PLOYEES
OF THE CITY UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE
FEDERAL SOCIAL SECURITY ACT; AUTHORIZING
DEDUCTIONS FROM EMPLOYEES' WAGES; APPROPRIATING
THE CITY'S PORTION OF THE TAX; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are hereby authorized and directed
to enter into an agreement with the State of Arkansas for the
purpose of obtaining insurance coverage for all the non - uniform
employees of the City under the terms and provisions of the
Federal Social Security Act.
SECTION 2. That commencing January 1, 1951,
each employee's insurance contribution shall be deducted from
his salary check in accordance with the terms and provisions of
the said Social Security Act.
SECTION 3. That commencing January 1, 1951, there
is hereby appropriated from the General Fund of The City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, the sums of money necessary to pay the
City's share of the insurance tax in accordance with the terms and
provisions of the said Social Security Act.
SECTION 4. All ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed, and unless the provisions of this ordinance
are placed into effect at once, the health and safety of the citizens
of the City will be adversely affected, therefore an emergency
is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full
force and dffect from and after its passage and approval.
