ORDINANCE NO. 8769
AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE STORAGE OF DYNAMITE AND
OTHER_EXPLOSIVES USED IN INDUSTRIAL BLASTING AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE.CITY_OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. All persons, firms and corporations requiring
the use of dynamite, dynamite caps, nitramon, nitroglycerin and
•tbor- --oxplosives and blasting agents in his or its blasting operations
or in connection with the operation of his or its industrial plant
shall keep and store said dynamite, dynamite caps, nitramon, nitro-
glycerin, explosives and blasting agents in conformity with the
recommendations of the National Board of Fire Underwriters and of
the Factory Insurance Association.
SECTION 2. The provisions of Ordinance No. 792 of the
'i Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, passed and approved on the
second day of April, 1900, being also Sections 602 to 6062 inclusive,
of Brickhouse and Castlets Digest of the Ordinances of the City of
Little Rock, 1932 edition, shall not apply to any person, firm, or
corporation engaged in interstate commerce or to any person, firs or
corporation requiring the use of dynamite, dynamite caps,.; nitramon,
nitroglycerin, and other explosives and blasting agents in his or
its blasting operations or in connection with the operation of his
or its industrial plant.
SECTION 3. The provisions of Ordinance No. 3212 of the
Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, passed and approved on the
28th day of May, 1923, being also Sections 536 to 539, inclusive, of
Brickhouse and Castle's Digest of the Ordinances of the City of Little
hock, 1932 edition, shall not apply to any person, firm, or corporation
requirig the use of dynamite, dynamite caps, nitramon, nitroglycerin,
and other explosives and blasting agents in his or its industrial
operations or in connection with the operation of his or its industrial
plant; provided, however, that all blasting operations conducted by
any such person, firm, or corporation, shall conform to the standards
of care generally observed in the particular industry.

SECTION 4. The provisions of an ordinance passed and approved
on the 15th day of July, 1869, as amended by an ordinance passed and
approved on the 22nd day of November, 1881, and appearing as Section 535
of Brickhouse and Castle's Digest of the Ordinances of the City of
Little Rock, 1932 edition, shall not apply to any person, firm or
corporation requiring the use of dynamite, dymanite caps, nitramon,
nitroglycerin and other explosives and blasting agents in his or itar.

ducted by any such person, firm, or corporation shall conform to the

SECTION 5. The ordinance passed and approved on the 15th day
of July, 1869, appearing as Section 607 of Brickhouse and Castle's
Digest of the Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, 1932 edition, is
hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
with Section 1 of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
