AN ORDINANCE TO PERMIT THE INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL
BANKING DEVICES ON PUBLIC SIDEWALKS CONTIGUOUS TO
BANKING INSTITUTIONS; ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL CHARGE
THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, banking institutions in the City of Little
Rock are desirous of installing and maintaining mechanical bank-
ing devices known as "curb tellers" on the curb line of sidewalks
contiguous to such banking institutions; and
WHEREAS, said "curb Tellers" will be beneficial to the
public in utilizing the banking facilities of such institutions;
and
WHEREAS, the use of said "curb tellers" will relieve
traffic congestion on the public streets adjacent to such bank-
ing institutions and will promote public safety on said streets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY -OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Any bank, trust company or other financial
institution that offers general banking services to the public
may install and maintain, as hereinafter provided, along the
curb line of the public sidewalks contiguous to such bank, trust
company or financial institution, One (1) mechanical banking de-
vice commonly known, and hereinafter referred to, as a "curb
teller ", and that any such unit shall be of the disappearing
type.
SECTION 2. All "curb tellers" installed under the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be placed not less than thirty
feet apart, and no curb tellers shall be placed within thirty -six
feet of a point where the curb (or a projection thereof) on which
said teller is located joins the curb (or a projection thereof)
of an intersecting street.

SECTION 3. Such "curb Tellers" shall be located only
within the areas designated for that purpose by the Traffic
Bureau; and each such "curb Teller" shall be placed near the curb
line, the exact location of same to be approved by the City Engi-
neer and the Traffic Bureau.
SECTION 4. Application for authority to erect and
operate a "curb Teller" within an area designated for such purpose
by the Traffic Bureau shall be filed with the City Engineer, in
the same manner that applications for building permits are now
filed; and for such permit the applicant shall be required to pay
a fee
of
$200.00 per year
for
each curb teller
authorized and
such
fee
shall not be in
lieu
of any other per
mit fee.
SECTION 5. That any firm being granted permission for
the operation of such 'burb teller" shall at its own expense, pro-
vide an experienced traffic officer during all hours that said
"curb teller" is in operation to assist in regulating traffic in
connection with the operation of such "curb teller ".
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
