9914I ORDINANCE NO. 9914 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND REQUESTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHTS TO BE INSTALLED UPON THE RIVERFR ONT DRIVE BY THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY COMMIS- SION AND TO PASS AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING AT ALL POINTS WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE PROJECT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby au- thorized and requested to execute and enter into an Agreement with the Arkansas State Highway Commission to maintain and operate traffic signal lights to.be installed upon the River - front Drive by the Arkansas State Highway Commission and to pass an ordinance prohibiting parking at all points within the limits of the project. SECTION 2. The form of this Agreement shall be as follows, to -wit: A G R E E M E N T THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this day of 1955s by and between the Arkansas State Highway Commission, hereinafter called "Commission ", and the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Ark- ansas, hereinafter called "City ", WITNESSETH: R E C I T A L WHEREAS, under the terms of an agreement between the Com- mission and the City dated the 25th day of June, 1953, the Com- mission is engaged in the construction of the South River Front Drive, more specifically designated as State Job 6429, Federal Aid Project U- US- 524(1), and WHEREAS, it is proposed for the safety and benefit of the public to install signal lights where necessary for the control of traffic on the above designated project, NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the covenants and agree- ments herein contained it is agreed by and between the parties ' , . .ia_ -2- hereto as follows, to -wit: 1. Commission will, without cost to the City, install signal lights at all points mutually agreed upon between the authorized representatives of the Commission and the City. 2. Upon completion of the installation, the City will assume full and complete responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the signal lights. 3. Prior to the date of completion of the project, the City will pass an ordinance prohibiting parking at all points within the limits of the project.
