ORDINANCE NO. 9875
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND REQUESTING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE COUNTY JUDGE OF PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS FOR THE
REMOVAL OF THE PULASKI COUNTY JAIL FROM ITS PRESENT LO-
CATION TO A NEW LOCATION IN BLOCK 186, ORIGINAL CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE COUNTY JAIL FROM
THE RIGHT -OF -WAY OF THE RIVERFRONT DRIVE; THE TERMS OF
SAID AGREEMENT SHALL PROVIDE FOR THE CITY TO CONVEY TO
PULASKI COUNTY A NEW SITE FOR THE COUNTY JAIL IN BLOCK
186, ORIGINAL CITY OF LI TILE ROCK, AND A PORTION OF THE
PRESENT SITE OF THE COUNTY JAIL; AND TO PAY ALL OF THE
COST OF REMOVING THE COUNTY JAIL UP TO, BUT NOT EXCEED-
ING, THE SUM OF $358,289.50; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby
authorized and requested to execute and enter into an Agreement
with the County Judge of Pulaski County, Arkansas, whereby the
County Judge shall remove the Pulaski County Jail from its present
location to a new location provided the City of Little Rock fur-
nishes the new site in Block 186, Original City of Little Rock,
and agrees to pay all of the cost of removing the Jail to the new
location up to, but not exceeding, the sum of $358,289.50.
SECTION 2. The form of this Agreement shall be as follows,
to -wit:

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
This Agreement entered into this day of August, 1955,
by and between the County Judge of Pulaski County, Arkansas and
the City of Little Rockj Arkansas under the authority of Ordinance
passed
No, of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, /*Ppreved August
1955, for the purpose of clearing the right -of -way for the
Riverfront Drive by removing the Pulaski County Jail from its pres-
ent location to a new location in Block 186, Original City of Little
Rock, WITNESSETH:
1. It is agreed that the County Judge of Pulaski County, Ark-
ansas shall be the contracting Agent to obtain a contract for the
removal of the Pulaski County Jail Building from its present loca-
tion to a new location in Block 186, Original City of Little Rock,

Pulaski County, Arkansas.
2. It is further agreed that the City of Little Rock shall
bear all of the cost of removing the Jail from its present location
to the new location, and furnish the new site for the new location.
3. The City of Little Rock agrees to deposit in escrow in the
, Little Rock, Arkansas, a
sum of money equal to the amount of the lowest reliable bid up to,
but not to exceed, the sum of $358,289.50, including the fee of the
architect for the project to be used as the cost of removing the
Jail to the new location. The funds shall be withdrawn upon the
order of with the approval of the
County Judge of Pulaski County, Arkansas and the Board of Public
Affairs of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to pay-
ing the expense of removing the Pulaski County Jail, the City of
Little Rock agrees to execute a deed of conveyance to Pulaski.
County, Arkansas of all of that part of Block 186, South of the
right -of -way of the Missouri- Pacific Railroad Company, together
with the following lands in Pulaski County, Arkansas, to -wit:
"Beginning at the point on the East line of Spring Street which is
106.35 feet North of the North line of Garland Avenue; thence
Southeasterly in a straight line to the point on the Northerly
extension of the East line of Conway Street, which is 72.22 feet
North of the North line of Garland Avenue; thence North along the
Nort9 �her9y extension of the East line of Conway Street, a distance
of -EE re+-feet to the South right -of -way line of the Missouri-

Pacific Railroad Company; thence Northwestwardly along the South
E right -of -way line of the Missouri- Pacific Railroad Company to the
East line of Spring Street; thence South along the East line of
a distance of 40.57 feet

4. The County Judge of Pulaski County, Arkansas agrees to re-
move that part of the County Jail, commonly called the "Stockade ",
and to commence work on removing same on or before the date of the
notice to the contractor to proceed to relocate the main building
of the Pulaski County Jail.

5. This Agreement is executed by the Mayor and City Clerk,
respectively, for the City of Little Rock pursuant to the authority
contained under the above - mentioned Ordinance No. of the
City Council of the City of Little Rock,/ passed

SECTION 2. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall
