ORDINANCE NO. 9866
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, OF 24 BLOCKS OF TERRITORY LO-
CA TED IN SEC TI ON 7, TOWNSHIP 1 NORM 9 RANGE 12 WEST,
PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS, CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK ON THE NORTH AND WEST BOUNDARY OF SAID
CITY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, upon the petition of a majority of the property
owners and a majority of the acreage in the area affected, as
required by law, and after due notice of hearing on said peti-
tion for the time and in the manner prescribed by law, the
County Court of Pulaski County, Arkansas, did on the 21st day
of June, 1955, enter an order annexing the following described
property situated in Pulaski County, Arkansas, to -wit:
A 24 -block area lying West and North of the City of Little
Rock, located in Section 7, Township 1 North, Range 12 West,
Pulaski County, Arkansas, which is more particularly de-
scribed as: Beginning at the Southwest corner of 20th and
Hayes Streets; thence North along the West side of Hayes
Street to the Northwest corner of West 12th Street; thence
East along the North side of West 12th Street to the North-
east corner of 12th and Filmore Streets; thence South on the
East side of Filmore Street to the Southeast corner of West
16th Street; thence West on the South side of West 16th
Street to the Southeast corner of 16th and Buchanan Streets;
thence South along the East side of Buchanan Street to the
Southeast corner of 20th and Buchanan Streets; thence West
on the South side of West 20th Street to the Southwest cor-
ner of West 20th and Hayes Streets, which is the point of
beginning,
to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, more than thirty (30) days have expired within
which any protestant could institute proceedings in the Circuit
Court of Pulaski County, Arkansas, to prevent said annexation,
and there have appeared no protestants to this annexation; and
WHEREAS, said above described lands are contiguous to and
adjoin the City of Little Rock on the North and West boundary
of said City, and have a large amount of improvements placed
thereon at the present time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CI TY OF IS TTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the following described property, to -wit:
A 24-block area lying West-and North of the City of Little
Rock, located in Section 71 Township 1 North, Range 12 West,
Pulaski County, Arkansas, which is more particularly de-
scribed as: Beginning at the Southwest corner of 20th and

Hayes Streets; thence North along the West side of Hayes
Street to the Northwest corner of West 12th Street; thence
East along the North side of West 12th Street to the North-
east corner of 12th and Filmore Streets; thence South on the
East side of Filmore Street to the Southeast corner of West
16th Street; thence West on the South side of West 16th
Street to the Southeast corner of 16th and Buchanan Streets;
thence South along the East side of Buchanan Street to the
Southeast corner of 20th and Buchanan Streets; thence West
on the South side of West 20th Street to the Southwest cor-
ner of West 20th and Hayes Streets, which is the point of
beginning,
be and the same is hereby accepted as annexed and made a part of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; that said territory shall
henceforth be assigned and attached to the Fourth Ward of said
City; and that the residents therein shall henceforth be consid-
ered as citizens of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas.
