10313ORDINANCE NO. 10013
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has from time to time faced
extreme difficulty in employing and retaining qualified Department Heads
because the present salary scale is so low and out of line with comparable
earnings afforded in private industry, and
WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Finance Committee of the City Council
has requested the Department of Political Science of the University of Ark-
ansas to make a complete examination of the salaries paid to particular city
officials of American Municipalities of from fifty thousand to one hundred
thousand inhabitants in 1950, and
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee of the City Council has made a
comprehensive study of the report furnished to it by the University of
Arkansas which outlines prevailing differentials in salaries paid municipal
officials in comparable cities, and
WHEREAS, the recommendations of the University of Arkansas Study
Group has been of great assistance to the Committee in the recommendation
of the establishment of salary scales and salary differentials for certain
Department Heads of the Municipal Government.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the annual salaries of
certain employees of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are
hereby fixed and established
as follows;

SECTION 2. The present employees serving in the above categories
will draw the pay scale according to the number of years they have served
in their respective positions. Those who have not served at least three
years, will automatically change classifications as their years of service
change.
SECTION 3. The pay scale as established above will be effective
as of January 1, 1957.
SECTION 4. That the employees covered by the provisions of this
ordinance shall,be paid according to the provisions of Ordinance No. 9436.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
according to its terms from and after its passage and approval.
