AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE LITTLE ROCK PLAN-
NING COMMISSION RESPECTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LAND USE PLAN,
AND RELATED NATTERS; ESTABLISHING SAID PLAN; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
'ION 1. A resolution adopted by the Little Rock Planning Commission
on October 10, 1957 entitled: "A Resolution Approving and Adopting a Land
Use Plan, and recommending said plan to the City Council of the City of
Little Rock,Arkansas" is hereby accepted on the recommendation of said Com-
mission respecting the matters therein set forth.
SECTION 2. There is hereby established a plan to be known as the
"Land Use Plan of the Little Rock Planning Area ", which plan is shown on a
map bearing said title and further identified as "Map "A "" and bearing the
following certificates duly sigaeds
"This plan was approved and adopted by the Little Rock Planning Com-
mission at a meeting held on October 10, 1957

Thomas R. Burleigh, Secretary
"This plan was approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas at a meeting held on October 28, 1957
Woodrow W. Mann , Mayor
W. C. Ware , City Clerk"
Together with such other maps, documents, ordinances, or orders as may
from time to time be prepared and adopted, all pursuant to Act 186 of 1957
of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas.
SECTION 3. For the purposes of this plan, the Planning Area is divided
into various use areas designated as follows:
%UR - Existing uses retained area.
An area in which the uses may continue as presently reflected on
the "District Map" of the Little Rock Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance
No. 5420 as amended.

STD - Study area.
An area for possible redevelopment, rehabilitation, renewal,
and /or similar program.
FPL - Flood Plain.
An area subject to flooding or backwater from the Arkansas River.
FFP - Flash flood plain.
An area subject to frequent or probable flash flooding.
INI - Industrial expansion area.
An area primarily suitable for industrial development.
BIM - Bauxite mining area.
An area in which there is bauxite or alumina bearing clay ex-
traction presently being carried on, or which may potentially
be useable for such activities.
DVA - Development area.
An area in which the development of neighborhoods may be antici-
pated.
RUA - Rural and agricultural area.
An area in which the present uses are rural or agricultural in
nature or of a generally low density, and in which it may be
anticipated that they will so continue.
SECTION /;. This plan shall be duly considered prior to action on any
matter related thereto which comes before the Little Rock Planning Commission,
this Council, or any of the departments, agencies, boards or commissions of
this city.
SECTION 5. If any section, clause, paragraph, provision or portion of
this plan shall be held invalid or unconstitutional, such holding shall not
affect any other section, clause, paragraph, provision or portion hereof.
SECTION 6. An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance
and the plan established herein shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval, and filing.
