AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION OF PROPERTY FOR CITY
PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 1957 FOR VARIOUS FUNDS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the rate of taxation on real and personal
property in the City of Little Rock for certain City purposes for the
year 1957 be and the same is hereby fixed and established and levied
as follows:
For General purposes in order to carry on the affairs of
the City Government under Section 4, Article 12, of the
Constitution of 1874, there is hereby levied a tax of Five
(5) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of
Little Rock for General Obligation Rights -of -Way Street
Improvement Bonds, issue of February 1, 1953, a tax of Two
and Three Fourths (2.75) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of
Little Rock for Fire Apparatus and Fire Station Bonds, issue
of February 1, 1953, a tax of One and Forty Five Hundreths
(1.45) mills.
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest of the City of
Little Rock General Obligation Garbage Disposal Plant Bonds,
issue of February 1, 1955, a tax of One Tenth (.1) mill. ,
For the purpose of paying bonds and interest for the City of
Little Rock General Obligation Municipal Airport Bonds, issue
of January 31, 1955, a tax of Seven Tenths (.7) of a mill.
For the purpose of paying Policemen's Pensions, in accordance
with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of
the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill.
For the purpose of paying Firemen's Pensions, in accordance
with the provisions of Amendment No. 31 to the Constitution of
the State of Arkansas, adopted November 5, 1940, and Act 16
of the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas
for the year 1941, a tax of Two Tenths (.2) of a mill.
For the purpose of maintaining the City Library, in accordance
with the provisions of Amendment No. 30 to the Constitution of
the State of Arkansas, a tax of One (1) mill.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a
certified copy of this ordinance to the County Clerk of Pulaski County
to the end that the taxes herein recited may be extended on the tax
books of Pulaski County and collected with the other taxes for the
year 1957•
SECTION 3.

Action under the terms of this ordinance is
immediately necessary if the public health program, policy and
protection be not seriously curtailed, and as such curtailment would
result in endangering the health, lives and property of the citizens
of Little Rock, and this ordinance being necessary for the public
peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock, an emergency,
therefore, is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take
effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage.
