For your information the procedure used for the installation of fire hydrants on existing and new water lines is somewhat as follows: Chief Nalley recommends the installation of new hydrants as re- quired to the Water Department. The Engineering staff of the Water De- partment reviews the recommendation. as related to our distribution system facilities and the recommendation is passed on to the Board of Water Works Commissioners. With few exceptions, the Board approves the installation without revision. Following the installation the Fire Department and the National Board of Fire bnderwriters (Arkansas Inspection & Rating Bureau) receive detailed drawings of the installation for insertion on their Master Map. The fire hydrant rental is 23,3 tPr hydrant Apr _)W=, as set out in Ordinance No. 9793. '391,74, /-96-9 Za2 .,4 eos -r'rA Xt4 The last report of the National Board of Fire Underwriters (April, 1957) recommends that additional hydrants be installed on new and existing mains to offset a deficiency rating on this phase of our water system facilities. Chief Nalley can give you details on this matter, but if you require further information from this Department, please advise.
