lished a 1960 Edition of its recommended Fire Prevention Code,
which the City of -ittle ock desires to adopt as its sire 2re-
M vention Code with certain modifications; and,
4HEA';3A5, three copies of said Code and modifications have
been on file with the City Clerk prior to the passage of this

aforesaid;

SECTION 1. Section 13 -1 of the Code of Grdinances of the
City of Little 'sock, Arkansas, is hereby amended as follows:
"Sec. 13 -1. Adoption of 2Tire :'. revention ;ode.
There is hereby adopted by the board of directors of the
City of Little lock for the purpose of prescribing regula-
tions bovernino conditions hazardous to life and property
from fire or explosion, that certain code known as the ,sire
i- revention Code recommended L-,y the National uoard of sire
Underwriters, being particularly the 1900 edition thereof
and the c,hl ole thereof, save and except such portions as are
hereinafter deleted, modifies or amended, of which code not
less than three copies have Leen and now are filed in the
office of the clerk of the city and the same are hereby
adopted and incorporated as fully as if set oLt at length
herein and the provisions thereof shall be controlling
within the limits of the 'amity of Little _;ock."
SECTION 2. Section 13 -5 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Tittle 7nock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Sec. 13 -5. Amendments to the fire prevention code.
The Fire Prevention Code described in Section 13 -1 is
amended and chanted in the .following respects:
(1) Section 13.5, entitled I °Firewor? -s; exceptions,"
is amended to read:

"(a) Nothins) in this article shall be construed to pro -
hibit any resident wholesaler, dealer, or jobber to sell at
wholesale such- fireworks as are not herein prohibited or to
sell at wholesale any kind of fireworks permitted by the
laws of the State of Arkansas, provided the same are to be
shipped directly out of the limits of this municipality; or
the use of fireworks by railroads or other transportation
agencies for signal purposes or illumination, or the sale
or use of blank cartridges for a show or theater, or for
si -nal or ce= emonial purposes in athletics or sports, or
fcr use by i- ilitary organizations.
(b) Fireworks to be sold at wholesale shall be stored in
a warehouse set aside for the storage of fireworks only.
Said warehouse shall be of fireproof construction consisting
of steel or corrugated iron with concrete floors, and a
sprinkler system, and the exterior walls of said warehouse
shall be situated a minimt--a of forty feet from the side
property lines, a minimum,.of one hundred feet from the front
and rear property lines, and a minimum of two hundred feet
from any abutting street or public highway. The plans for
construction of said warehouse or the utilization of an
warehouse, and the building materials and fire
fighting equipment to be utilized therein, must be first
approved by the chief of the fire department before a
building permit or business privilege license shall issue.
(c) The location of a warehouse for

(2) Section 14.6 of the Fire Prevention Code, identified
in Section 13 -1 of this Code, entitled "Sprinkler and Alarm
System :required," is amended to read as follows:
"(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) below, buildings

(3) Section 26.1 of the Fire Prevention Code, described
in Section 35 -1 of this Code, entitled "Bonfires and outdoor
rubbish fires," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(a) Permit re uired. No person shall kindle or maintain
any bon ire or rubbish fire or authorize any such fire to be
kindled or maintained on or in any public street, alley, road,
or other public -round without a permit or other proper
authorization.

(b) Location restricted. No person shall kindle or main-
tain any bontire or ru ish fire or authorize any such fire
to be kindled or maintained on any private land unless (1)
the location is not less than fifty Beet from any structure
and adequate provision is made to prevent fire from spreading
to within fifty feet of any structure, or ( 2 ) the fire is
contain ed in an approved waste burner with closed top,
located safely not less than fifteen feet from any structure.
(c) Fires prohibited. No person shall kindle or maintain
any bon ire or rubTistifire whatever or authorize any such
fire to be kindled or maintained on any private land between
sunset and sunrise without a permit or other proper authori-
zation from the chief of the fire department.
(d) Chief may prohibit. The chief of the fire department
may proh71blt any or all bonfires and outdoor rubbish fires
when atmospheric conditions or local circui,.stances make such
fires hazardous."
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
