AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PERFECT THE PARTICIPATION BY THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK IN THE COLLEGE WORK -STUDY PROGRAM AS PRO-
POSED BY CERTAIN AGENCIES OF THE UNITED STATES
OF .AMERICA; .APPROPRIATING $10,000 FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PAYING THE CITY'S PORTION OF SALARIES
TO BE PAID UNDER SAID PROGRAM; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
SAS, the United States of America by Act of Congress
and rules and regulations of interested agencies has created a
program popularly known as the College Work -Study Program
wherein college students are afforded summer work at a
minimum wage scale which wages are paid 90% by the Federal
Government and 10o by the participating political subdivision,
and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Little Rock to
participate in said program through the summer of 1966, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate anticipated
expenses for salaries to be paid under said program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to perfect and insure the participation by the City
of Little Rock in the College Work -Study Program and to cause
to be paid the portion of salaries payable by the City of
Little Rock under said program when and as said salaries become
due and payable.
SECTION 2. There is-hereby appropriated, from unappro-
priated balance in the General Fund, the sum of Ten Thousand
and no /100 Dollars ($10,000.00) to be expended from time to
time as required for the payment of salaries and related
expenses payable to or in behalf of employees of the City of
Little Rock who shall be employed under the College Work -
Study Program and the City Manager and Director of Finance
are authorized and directed to issue warrant or warrants from
said fund for such purposes.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval.
