AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 7 -19 and 7 -32 (a)
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK- PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR LATE LICENSING
OF DOGS- AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Section 7 -19 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Little Rock entitled "license fee; tags" is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 7 -19. License fee; tags.
It :shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to own, keep or harbour a dog within the corporate limits
of the city, without having first paid to the collector,
an annual license fee of three dollars each on,all dogs
six months of age or over. The license tax required by
this section shall be due and payable on or before July 1
of each year and when paid shall be effective for the
ensuing year ending on the following June 30. Upon
payment of the license tax required by this section it'
shall be the duty of the collector to furnish the owner
of the dog with a metal tag of distinctive design, . on one
side of which shall be stamped the words, "tax paid ", the
year for which the same is paid, and the serial number of
the dog. Every dog covered by this article must have and
wear a collar of such type that the city license tag may
be firmly attached to said collar. Such tag, when issued,
shall at all times be securely attached to the dog's collar
or harness, and failure to keep such tag on the dog's
collar shall be unlawful.
SECTION 2. Subsection (a) of Section 7 -32 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Little Rock ,entitled "Late licensing fee
interfering with animal control workers penalties" is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 7 -32.
(a) In -addi tion to the annual license fee as provided
for in Section 7 -19 hereof, a penalty shall be
assessed against the owner of any unlicensed and
unvaccirsted dog after July 1 of each year. The
penalty shall be $1.00 if paid prior to August-1
of the year-involved'.and $2.00 if paid after August 1.
A fine of $25,00 shall be assessed against the owner
who fails or refuses to have his-dog licensed and
vaccinated within one year following June 1 of any
given year. The additional charges herein provided
for late licensing shall be collected in the same
manner .as provided for in Section 7 -19 of this Code.

SECTION 3 This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
