AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 39 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES PERTAINING TO TRAFFIC TO PROVIDE
A NEW SECTION 39 -54.1; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Chapter 39 of the Code of Ordinances per-
taining to traffic is hereby amended to add a new Section
39 -54.1, as follows:
39 -54.1 Negligent and inattentive driving.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor
vehicle in a negligent or inattentive manner over and along
the public highways or streets of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas. For the purpose of this section to "operate in
a negligent or inattentive manner" shall be construed to mean
in such a manner as to endanger or be likely to endanger
any person or persons or do damage to public or private,
personal or real property.
The offense of operating a motor vehicle in a negligent
or inattentive manner shall be considered to be a lesser
offense than, but included in, the offense of operating in
ja reckless manner, and any person charged with operating
a vehicle in a reckless manner may be convicted of a lesser
offense of operating a motor vehicle in a negligent or inat-
tentive manner.
SECTION 2. Any person found violating the provisions
of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and shall be fined an amount not less than $10.00 nor more
than $100.00.
SECTION 3. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed and this Ordinance
shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage.
